[Click] beginner questions

sorry if these questions seem dumb, but i've got to start somewhere...
 
 First, i could not find an explanation about the element's handlers. I can read the read only handlers but can't write to the write only ones. How do I do it?
 
 Second, I'm running a very simple router on a PIV 866MHz with only two NIC's. I was using a LinearIPLookup and it's routing fine, only not fast enough (about 55000 packets/sec) and i wish to use the RadixIPLookup but i get the message 
 
 /home/click/Desktop/IProuter.click:54: 'rt :: RadixIPLookup' has no input 0
 
 and the Static or the LinearIPLookup work fine.
 
 Maybe i'not using the Radix element right. Any ideas are welcome.
