[Click] installing kernel problems

Hello, I had a problem when I patched the linux kernel, but after I got the kernel from www.kernel.org, there're no problems when I patched the kernel.

but when I tried to install the kernel, it worked well in step 'make dep' , in 'make bzImage' step, there are error message like this: "make[1]: *** [first_rule] Error 2" and "make: *** [_dir_kernel] Error 2" in end of the result prints.

And there are similar errors when I did 'make install' and 'make modules' command.

I'm using kernel version 2.4.18 and redhat 8.0

What should I do? Help me plz~
