I'm using
  $ cat compound-defs.click actual-conf.click | click
for this.

Of course nothing prevents you from running
  $ cpp conf.click | click             # userlevel
or
  $ cpp conf.click | click-install     # kernel mode
and use all the fancy #includes you ever wanted ;-)
