You can start by reviewing Click documentation, you can find it at http://www.pdos.lcs.mit.edu/click/doc/ . Also you can read the 
publications the click authors have made: http://www.pdos.lcs.mit.edu/click/#pubs 
 
But the best way is to dive into the code and see how things work, and ask in the list what you don't understand.
