Here's the deal: I will accept any paper that LOOKS as if it is
conforming to my requirements.  If in doubt, run a copy by me, and
I'll give you an opinion ... that's one of the purposes of the
"formatting pass".  Fortunately for you, I'm not a professional
publisher.  Unfortunately for you, I hate Computer Modern :-}.

I personally find it rather unprefessional that prior SOSPs looked so
wildly different from paper to paper, and hope to raise the standard
in this regard.  I entirely agree with you about figire captions,
which is why I spec'd it the way I did!
