[Click] help：about global variables

hi，
          As click is constructed with elements and then my questions how does click handle global things?
          For example,I am trying to keep a table,which is used to record every IP's information,like how many times it appears,which ports it connects and so on.but as I can just do something in an element,I don't know how to keep a record of many packets?
