[Click] Traffic Shaping in Click

Hi,
   I am using click to shape ingress traffic at 100Mbps to 44Mbps
egress. It does nothing except read the packets from the interface
(promisc mode), SetTimestamp, run it through Bandwidth Shaper, and
write to output queue. I am getting absymal performance. At 50Mbps
input rate, click is dropping 60% frames. The machine I am using is a
quad core Opteron box with 8GB of RAM.

Does someone have experience/performance figures using click as a shaper device?
