[Click] Accessing element handlers from within a click script

Thanks Beyers, Bart and Peter

In the end I went for the suggestion of passing the entire element and
calling the scan_string method (spent a few hours trying to figure out
why it wouldn't update only to realise I hadn't passed by reference :) -
now it works perfectly, I'll move onto Peter's suggestion of passing a
handler when I've built up more confidence in click - looks a little
more complex.
