[Click] How to handle packets received in input port ?

i am a new click user, i am writing an new element to
process packets following a new ip traceback
technique. I would like to modify packets before
forwarding them to the next element. i have tried  to
personalize simple_action method (in the new defined
class) but without effect when running the following
config :
FromDevice(eth0)->MyElement->print(n)->Discard;


so my question is : where to put handling packets
instructions and how to call this method. For
processing method, i have used agnostic mode.
