Annotations ???

so if I understand correctly, you have 2 different PCs (one which is a
router, and a 2nd which receives packets).

Of course, the 2nd PC only receives IP packets (or ethernet packets more
correctly) and nothing else, so you have to look to put the 'Paint'
information in the IP packet.

Maybe, you can use the IP options field in the IP header ( see
http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc0791.txt?number=791), more particularly the
'record route' option (which is not much used nowadays I believe).

What exactly do you want to do ?

(The paint in the clickrouter is used to check if an outgoing packet is
using the same interface on which it came in, in which case it has to
send an ICMP redirect)
