e1000 gigabit polling driver for 2.4.x

The e1000 Intel Gigabit polling click driver found in /tools in the cvs
repository does not compile for 2.4.4 kernels. The version of the cvs /tools
e1000 driver is version 2.5.11 which works for 2.2.x kernels. The latest
version driver from INTEL is compatible with 2.4.x kernels and is version
3.0.16, however it of course does not have the polling extensions.

Does a version of the e1000 gigabit driver exist for 2.4.x kernels that has
the polling extensions? Is there a plan to create a new click polling
extension e1000 driver for 2.4.x kernels?

I took a quick look at the 3.0.16 driver and attempted to see what needed to
be done and it looked, um,  well. ..... challenging  to add the polling:>)
