[chord] A question about chord

Greetings,
I am studying souce code of MIT chord,but confronted some problem.I don't understand Vnode(maybe virtual node),every physical node enter the DHT network,why allocate some vnodes for physical node.And what's the usage of vnode?Does it have some relation with finger table?Hope for you reply sincerely!
