[chord] a chord question

Thanks for your response.  I later figured it out that I need to use the -l
flag and explicitly specify the IP address. Without the -l, when I start
the first node, it compares the machine's IP address with its loop back
address (127.0.0.1), and could not match the two. 

Our installation seems to be working properly now, and I will try to get a 
snapshot to build the vis.
