The problem of security in a large university network

Bob Mahoney
Team Leader, MIT Network Security

Abstract

The talk will focus on the work of MIT's security team, and how they have addressed the challenges faced, including such areas as incident response, human factors in security, and the tension between host and perimeter security. The history and development of MIT's security team will be reviewed, as an example of how such teams typically come into being, along with war stories and other examples.
